  • Michael Wesely
  • Michael Wesely, born in Munich in 1963, studied at the Bayerische Staatslehranstalt für Photographie from 1986 to 1988 and at the Akademie der Bildenden Künste München from 1988 to 1994. With his often extremely long exposures, he captures processes that extend over periods of minutes, many hours and even years, and captures the passing of time: people standing more or less still for five minutes, plants blossoming and withering in a few days, architecture under construction for years. In long-term projects, he has photographed the construction of several important urban structures in Munich, Berlin, São Paulo, and other cities. Since 2000, he lives and works in Berlin. His works have been shown in exhibitions worldwide in numerous museums and galleries including the Museum of Modern Art, New York, the Neue Nationalgalerie, Berlin, the Gemeentemuseum, The Hague, and the Instituto Moreira Salles, São Paulo.
