I envision a day when we can all immerse ourselves in the refreshing, clean waters of the Spree, right in the heart of Mitte, washing away the stress of daily life. As an artist deeply connected to this city, I’m proud to be part of a broader movement of Berlin-based artists and architects who stand united behind the goals of Fluss Bad Berlin. We are advocating for the sustainable development of our city, striving for the common good. For us, art and culture are not just expressions of history—they are vital forces for shaping a more social, ecological, sustainable, and future-proof Berlin. Fluss Bad Berlin represents more than just a project; it’s a symbol of what our city can become. As an artist, I feel a deep responsibility to contribute to this vision, using my work and voice to help create a Berlin that embraces its future while honoring its past.
Maciej Markowicz
Maciej Markowicz (geb. 1981 in Nowy Sącz) studierte Fotografie in London und New York, wo er die Technik der Camera Obscura durch die Kombination mit mobilen Objekten modernisiert hat. Ausgehend von den Grundkomponenten der Fotografie – Licht und lichtempfindliches Material – fotografiert Markowicz aus dem Inneren seines Bootes, Transporters oder anderer mobiler Objekte. In Markowicz's Werk stellen die Papiernegative eine abstrakte Erfahrung von Ort und Zeit dar, eine Poetik der postmodernen Stadt. Durch die vom Künstler gewählten Technik – Bögen farbigen Fotopapiers werden direkt belichtet, so dass großformatige Papiernegative entstehen – ist jede Fotografie ein Unikat, ein einzigartiges Kunstwerk. Seine Arbeiten befinden sich in der öffentlichen Sammlung des Französischen Museums für Fotografie, der Kunstsammlung des Deutschen Bundestags, sowie in zahlreichen internationalen Privatsammlungen. Maciej Markowicz lebt und arbeitet in Berlin.
